University of Oklahoma officials won approval Thursday to begin improvement work on Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
NORMAN — University of Oklahoma officials won approval Thursday to begin improvement work on Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
The OU Board of Regents met Thursday and approved a plan to begin work on the stadium. Work is expected to begin this summer.
Planned renovations for the stadium include refurbishment of the east side suites, the Santee Lounge and the Kerr McGee Stadium Club.
University officials plan this summer to complete initial work, including maintenance, repairs and improvements to the east side structure.
The rest of the work will be completed between the 2012 and 2013 football seasons.
The $950,000 project will be funded from money raised through general revenue bonds.
Also during the meeting, the board approved the hiring of new Sooners linebacker coach Tim Kish for $190,000 a year, plus an additional $79,000 a year for “personal services.”
The board also accepted the resignation of defensive coordinator Brent Venables, who announced in January that he had accepted a job as Clemson's new defensive coordinator.
