NORMAN — Several weeks ago, someone left a new bag of tiny dog biscuits on my front porch. My dog loves them. Being fairly tiny herself, she hates the regular-size dog biscuits I’ve bought for her in the past.

I couldn’t figure out who left the treats for her, so I began to thank some of my dog-lover friends as one by one I would run into them. None of them was the right person to thank, so I still don’t know who gave my dog the gift.

The incident reminds me of one a few years ago. I walked outside and saw a concrete statue of a little boy holding a flower basket. It was near my small, brick patio. He looked as if he had been standing there for years, but I knew better. While I had admired similar yard ornaments in other people’s yards, I didn’t own any like it.

I had to assume someone had given him to me as a gift, because he was too heavy to be randomly placed there.

He looked as if someone had lovingly put him down in the perfect spot. Why, I couldn’t fathom, but I love him dearly.
