An unlicensed Oklahoma City credit repair company that was ordered to stop advertising its services has applied for a license, an official with the Oklahoma Department of Consumer Credit said Wednesday.

The agency's administrator, Scott Lesher, issued an emergency cease-and-desist order on Sept. 24 against Show and Prove Credit Repair. The order claimed that the company advertised credit repair services on its website without proper licensing.

Roy John Martin, general counsel for the Consumer Credit Department, said the company applied for a license on Friday.

“We haven't received any complaints (about the company),” Martin said. “The only complaint we received is that they were advertising without a license.”

The order required the company to stop offering its services as a credit repair organization. The company's website on Wednesday continued to offer credit repair services.

The company agreed to waive its right to a hearing and enter into a consent order with the department. Martin said Wednesday that the consent order was still being developed.
