UPDATE: All-clear given downtown after suspicious backpack reported at city hall in Oklahoma City

A police bomb squad has responded to a report of a suspicious backpack at city hall in Oklahoma City.

11:30 a.m. N Walker Avenue has reopened after a bomb squad investigated a backpack at city hall. The backpack was not dangerous, police report, and the all-clear has been issued.

10:20 a.m.: Police report there is a backpack with a blanket on it under a staircase on the west side of city hall Wednesday. It is not a package, Capt. Dexter Nelson said. A bomb squad is checking it. North Walker Avenue remains closed to traffic.

10:05 a.m.: City hall has been partly evacuated Wednesday. A suspicious package was found at the west entrance outside the building. The 200 block of N Walker Avenue is closed to traffic.

10 a.m.: An Oklahoma City Police Department bomb squad is checking out a suspicious package at city hall Wednesday.

The package was reported about 9:30 a.m., police Master Sgt. Gary Knight reports.
