UPDATE: Car driven into Oklahoma River early Tuesday, driver escapes

A driver is out of a car that plunged into the Oklahoma River near downtown Tuesday. It happened about 6 a.m.

7 a.m . A car has been pulled out of the Oklahoma River with help from a firefighter dive team, fire Battalion Chief Brian Stanaland said. The driver is being treated at the scene. Check NewsOK.com for updates.

6:45 a.m. Emergency crews responded to reports a vehicle went into the Oklahoma River near downtown early Tuesday, fire Battalion Chief Brian Stanaland reports.

The vehicle went into the river about 6 a.m. just west of Eastern Avenue and south of Interstate 40. The driver was out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived. An ambulance arrived to treat the driver for injuries.
