UPDATE: Device deemed harmless, residents allowed back to apartment complex

Del City police have evacuated Casa Rene Apartments, 4401 S Sooner Road, after police found a suspicious device in an apartment. Police are questioning the man who lives in the apartment, police Maj. Jody Suit said.

3:55 p.m. Police say the device is harmless and are allowing residents to return to their apartments, Del City police Maj. Jody Suit said.

The man, who was taken into questioning, was released to Tinker Air Force Base's criminal investigators. The device was a training device from the air force base, Suit said.

3:30 p.m. DEL CITY — Police have evacuated an apartment complex Thursday afternoon after finding a suspicious device in one of the apartments.

Police found a suspicious device in an apartment at the Casa Rene Apartments, 4401 S Sooner Road. They don't think the device is an active bomb, but still are investigating, police Maj. Jody Suit said.

The man, who lives in the apartment where the device was found was taken for questioning, Suit said. He works at Tinker Air Force Base, Suit said.

Police hope to be done with their investigation within the hour, he said. has disabled the comments for this article.
