UPDATE: Dust blowing in north Oklahoma City, Edmond as high winds whip across Oklahoma Thursday

High wind gusts are blowing across Oklahoma City Thursday. There could be a high fire danger.

9:10 a.m. Dust is causing lower visibility in areas of north Oklahoma City and Edmond Thursday as winds gusting up to 45 mph are out of the west. A wind advisory is in effect until 3 p.m. in central Okahoma, the Naitonal Weather Service reports.

5 a.m. A high wind warning is in effect Thursday for northwest Oklahoma, and high wind gusts are also causing problems in central parts of the state.

Power outages have been reported in the Seminole area. Central Oklahoma is under a wind advisory until 3 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service reports.

There were 811 power outages in Seminole reported at 5:20 a.m., according to the Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. website.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Thursday: Sunny with a temperature falling to around 48 by 9 a.m. Windy with a west, northwest wind 29 to 34 mph becoming northwest 17 to 22 mph. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.

Thursday night: Mostly clear with a low around 32. West, northwest wind 7 to 14 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
