3:45 p.m. Service has been restored in Kingfisher and Geary, and is expected to restored in Watonga within the hour, Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority spokesman Drake Rice said.
Service is still out to Fairview, Wyanoka, Okeene and Goltry, with a total number of 4,919 customers affected, he said.
Edmond Electric crews are still in Okeene helping the city replace damaged poles. Two spans of power lines in Okeene are on the ground. A crew from Purcell Municipal Electric is on its way to Fairview, he said.
OG&E reports 11,256 customers in Enid are without power as of 3 p.m.
Mike Honigsberg, Garfield County Emergency Management director, reports OG&E officials say the majority of Enid residents will have power back on Tuesday night, and all the power could be restored by the end of the business day Wednesday.
About 12 Western Farmers Electric Cooperative substations remained off as of noon Tuesday, according to a news release. Those substations include the Alfalfa Electric Cooperative in Cherokee, Cimarron Electric Cooperative in Kingfisher, Kiwash Electric Cooperative in Cordell and Northwestern Electric Cooperative in Woodward service areas.
12:50 p.m. OG&E has sent workers with bulldozers and tractors to assess the situation in remote areas in Enid, as well as two helicopters, spokesman Brian Alford said.
“We are continuing to do assessments today,” Alford said. “We will have to have our assessment completed before we can give an estimated time for restoration.”
The power outage wasn't too bad for one Enid family. David Ezzell said Tuesday the power at his house was out for about 12 hours.
“My house was pretty well insulated. We actually have a gas log and a fireplace but we didn't turn it on until I got up,” Ezzell said. “There are a lot of people around town who are suffering however because there are a lot of folks who don't have nice, well-insulated homes who are probably all shivering.”
12:05 p.m. Power has been restored to many customers in Enid. At noon, Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. reported 9,351 outages in Enid. There were about 22,000 customers without power at one point.
