UPDATE: Excessive heat advisory issued in northeast Oklahoma Thursday

Temperatures could hit the century mark in Oklahoma Thursday, the National Weather Service reports. An excessive heat advisory is in effect in northeast Oklahoma and a heat advisory is in effect for the rest of the state except the Panhandle Thursday.

6:45 a.m. Northeast Oklahoma, including the Tulsa area, could have a heat index value of 110 degrees Thursday, the National Weather Service reports. That part of the state is under an excessive heat advisory until 7 p.m. For the rest of the state, except the Panhandle, a heat advisory has been issued in Oklahoma Thursday until 8 p.m., the National Weather Service reports. 6 a.m. Temperatures will be near 100 degrees in central Oklahoma with a heat index up to 105 degrees. A heat advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. for the Oklahoma City area.

The Oklahoma City forecast from the National Weather Service is as follows:

Thursday: Sunny and hot with a high near 100. Heat index values as high as 105. South, southwest wind 7 to 13 mph.

Thursday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy with a low around 78. South wind 10 to 14 mph becoming west, southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Friday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m. Mostly sunny and hot with a high near 97. Heat index values as high as 100. North wind 7 to 12 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.

Friday night: Mostly clear with a low around 73. North, northeast wind 7 to 11 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 91. North wind 7 to 9 mph.

Saturday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy with a low around 69.

Sunday: Sunny with a high near 87.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 66.

Monday: Mostly sunny with a high near 83.

Monday night: Partly cloudy with a low around 65.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 85.
