Oklahoma City fire crews extinguished a fire that started in a tire warehouse Thursday afternoon.
The fire started about 12 p.m. at T&W Tire, 25 N Council Road, and quickly spread outside the warehouse, where hundreds of tires were stacked.
Heavy smoke billowed from the business. The smoke could be seen for miles.
“It could have been a bad situation because those tires burn hotter and are stacked very tight,” Oklahoma City Fire Department Deputy Chief Kellie Sawyers said. “We were very fortunate to knock out this fire as quickly as we did.”
Crews contained the fire within the hour, Sawyers said. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
