UPDATE: Freeze watch issued for parts of central, southwestern and northwestern Oklahoma as cooler temperatures arrive Wednesday

A freeze watch has been issued for the western portion of the state west of Interstate 44 for early Thursday. Areas east of I-44 will be under a frost advisory at midnight as a cold front has dropped temperatures across Oklahoma.

9:40 a.m. A freeze watch has been issued for Thursday morning for much of the state west and north of Interstate 44. Oklahoma County is included in the freeze watch that takes effect 12 a.m. and lasts until 8 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service reports. Cleveland County and other counties south and east of I-44 are under a frost advisory for the same hours early Thursday. A freeze warning is in effect for 12 a.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Thursday in extreme southeast Oklahoma, the weather service reports.

5 a.m. There is a chance for frost overnight in central Oklahoma as a front has brought cooler temperatures to the state Wednesday, the National Weather Service reports.

The high temperature in Oklahoma City Wednesday will be near 53 degrees with north winds gusting up to 21 mph.

The low temperature early Thursday will be around 35 degrees with areas of frost possible before 9 a.m.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a high near 53. North, northwest wind 7 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Wednesday night: Areas of frost after 3 a.m. Clear with a low around 36. Light and variable wind.

Thursday: Areas of frost before 9 a.m. Sunny with a high near 64. West wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

Thursday night: Clear with a low around 40. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 8 mph in the evening.

Friday: Sunny with a high near 67. South wind 9 to 17 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Friday night: Mostly clear with a low around 42.

Saturday: Sunny with a high near 66.

Saturday night: Mostly clear with a low around 45.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high near 67.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy with a low around 54.

Veterans Day: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a high near 67.

Monday night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 52.

Tuesday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a high near 66.
