9:15 a.m. A husband and wife escaped their burning house when lightning hit it about 12:10 a.m. Friday, said Fire Chief Terry Hamilton.
The man and woman got out and told firefighters they awoke to what sounded like a bomb going off, Hamilton said. The chimney took a direct hit, Hamilton said. The 5,000 square-foot house at 1821 Devonshire Blvd. sustained heavy damage. Hamilton did not know the dollar amount of damage. There were no injuries. Check NewsOK.com for updates.
6:35 a.m. NICHOLS HILLS – Lightning struck a house and caused heavy damage to it Friday, a firefighter said.
The house caught fire during thunderstorms that moved through the Oklahoma City area early Friday with heavy rain and lightning. No injuries were reported.
The house is at 1821 Devonshire Blvd. near N Pennsylvania Avenue and NW Grand Boulevard.
