Family members of a 77-year-old woman asked police Friday to conduct a welfare check at her home, 11000 S Bryant Ave., Capt. Dexter Nelson said.
The relatives said the woman lived with her 52-year-old mentally ill son.
The son refused entry to the residence and said his mother was not home, Nelson said.
Family members requested another welfare check Sunday.
Again the son would not let officers into the residence, he said.
The bomb squad was called to check on suspicious items observed around the house, but nothing was found to be dangerous and officers left.
Nelson said officers returned Monday and again the son would not let them in.
Tuesday, patrol officers, homicide detectives, and members of the tactical unit and the bomb squad went to the residence to execute the search warrant.
