UPDATE: Medical examiner confirms name of man killed in Oklahoma City motel

The name of a man killed Saturday night at a motel has been released. The man was found dead in the office of a motel in northeast Oklahoma City, police said.

9:30 a.m. The state medical examiner has confirmed the name of a man found dead in a northeast Oklahoma City motel Saturday night. Bipinchandra Patel, 61, was killed Saturday night. The cause of death is homicide, but the manner has not been determined, said Amy Elliott, state medical examiner's spokeswoman.

Police have not released information about how he was killed, Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow reports.

No arrests have been made and no suspects named.  Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide tip line at (405) 297-1200.  Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.

7:45 a.m. Police have not released the name of a man killed in a motel Saturday night, reports police Master Sgt. Gary Knight Monday morning. Family members told a local television station he had owned the motel about eight years, the station reports.

The man was found dead in the motel office. The death is being investigated as the 96th homicide of the year, police said.

Patel was found about 10:15 p.m. Saturday in the office of the Oxford Inn, 5301 N Lincoln Blvd., police said.
