About 4 a.m. Monday, officers responded to an auto burglary call where a witness reported three people stealing items out of a vehicle. The burglars left in two cars. An officer got behind both cars and started following them. The cars split up, and the officer followed a white Lincoln Town Car. The driver sped away, and officers pursued. The pursuit lasted 2 minutes and 25 seconds before ending due to high speeds and wet roads. About five minutes later, the Town Car was found wrecked at W Reno and Rockwell avenues. Wharton and Hamilton were found in a field nearby and arrested, police reported. Anyone with information about others involved Monday can call police Crime Stoppers 235-7300.
