UPDATE: New low temperature set for April 24 in Oklahoma City Wednesday morning

11:30 a.m. A new record low temperature for April 24 was set in Oklahoma City Wednesday, the National Weather Service reports. The temperature dipped to 31 degrees. The old record for a low temperature on April 24 in Oklahoma City was 35 degrees set in 1995. Temperatures are expected to warm up Wednesday. Check NewsOK.com for weather updates.

5:05 a.m. Temperatures will be in the upper 50s in central Oklahoma Wednesday after a frosty morning, the National Weather Service reports.

Showers are possible early Friday, the weather service reports.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Wednesday: Areas of frost between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Otherwise sunny with a high near 58. North wind 5 to 8 mph.

Wednesday night: Mostly clear with a low around 37. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph after midnight.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with a high near 67. Light and variable wind becoming south, southeast 9 to 14 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Thursday night: Showers and thunderstorms likely mainly after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy with a low around 51. South wind 5 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy with a high near 65. South, southeast wind 8 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Friday night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 51.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with a high near 71.
