Oklahoma City police arrested a man after an early morning standoff Thursday in southwest Oklahoma City.

Jose Manuel Gutierrez, 29, was arrested on complaints of assault and battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm after formal conviction of a felony, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and felony domestic violence, police Capt. Dexter Nelson said.

Officers were called about 2:45 a.m. to the 3500 block of Steele Avenue near S Western Avenue. When officers arrived, a woman covered in blood told officers a man was shooting his gun and had beaten her. The woman, whose name was not released, had been pistol-whipped, Nelson said. She was taken to a hospital.

The tactical team and bomb squad arrived at the scene about 4 a.m. and surrounded the house.

Gutierrez emerged from the house about three hours later. Officers found a gun inside the house. A gun had been fired in the home during the standoff.
