UPDATE: Suspect on the loose in Blackwell

A suspect is on the loose after police didn’t find him in a Blackwell home they thought he had barricaded himself in.

1:30 p.m. Blackwell police are on the lookout for a man they believed had barricaded himself in a home Monday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol tactical team cleared the home and the property’s outdoor structure in southeast Blackwell, and the man was not in either structure, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Lt. Brian Orr said.

Blackwell police officials are on the scene and could not comment, a Blackwell police dispatcher said.

10:15 a.m. A person is barricaded inside a home in southeast Blackwell on Monday, said Capt. George Brown, Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman. A patrol tactical team is on the scene. The home is near U.S. 177 east of Interstate 35.

9 a.m. Police officers and Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are on the scene of a standoff on the southeast side of Blackwell, a police dispatcher confirmed Monday morning.

The patrol’s tactical team has arrived, the dispatcher said.
