UPDATE: Power being restored in Oklahoma Thursday

Crews are working to restore power to thousands of customers in central Oklahoma. Power outages are reported in Oklahoma City, Yukon, Bethany and Moore Thursday.

9:35 a.m. Power is almost restored to more than 7,000 electric customers in central Oklahoma Thursday who lost power in overnight storms. About 315 electric customers in north and south, central Oklahoma City remain without power, according to the Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. website.

7:40 a.m. Utility poles along the north side of Wilshire Boulevard from Sara Road west to Mustang Road are down from overnight storms. Residents are advised to stay away from any down line. Heavy rain is reported in the area Thursday morning. Check NewsOK.com for updates.

7:12 a.m. Power poles blown down by overnight storms are in yards of about 20 homes without power near Wilshire Boulevard and Mustang Road, said Gayle Berry, spokeswoman for Oklahoma Gas & Electric. Co. Crews are working to restore power to thousands of people in central Oklahoma Thursday. Stay away from any down power line or utility pole, Berry said. Police are keeping motorists out of the area. Mustang Road and Britton is shut down, according to police radio reports. Check NewsOK.com for updates.

6:40 a.m. A number of utility poles have snapped in overnight storms in Oklahoma City, according to fire department radio reports. There are 10 poles and lines down in yards of homes at Wilshire Boulevard and Sara Road. Check NewsOK.com for updates.

4:45 a.m. More than 7,000 electric customers were without power early Thursday after a night of storms, Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. reports.

There are 5,329 power outages reported in west Oklahoma City, 1,829 outages in south central Oklahoma City and 623 reported in north Oklahoma City. Smaller outages are reported in Yukon, Bethany and Moore.
