7:20 a.m. Heavy thunderstorms are moving into Garfield County and the Enid, Oklahoma area Thursday. A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for eastern Garfield County. The Garfield County Emergency Management office reports large hail and damaging winds are a threat. Check NewsOK.com for weather updates.

6 a.m. A hot, windy day is ahead in central Oklahoma Thursday, the National Weather Service reports.

The Oklahoma City forecast is as follows:

Thursday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny with a high near 95. Heat index values as high as 99. Windy with a south wind 14 to 19 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph.

Thursday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 74. South wind 10 to 17 mph with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 97. South wind 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Friday night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy with a low around 74. South, southeast wind around 16 mph with gusts as high as 23 mph.
