UPDATE: Suspicious package at Myriad Gardens is called 'nothing'

The suspicious package is across the street from Chesapeake Energy Arena, where the Thunder will face the Miami Heat on Tuesday.

9:45 p.m. Myriad Gardens has been cleared as the suspicious package “turned out to be nothing,” Morris said. She did not have further details on what the package was. Asked whether response was heightened because of the Tuesday NBA Finals across the street, she said the response to the event followed protocol for suspicious package calls. “We did what we would normally do.”

8:30 p.m. Myriad Gardens has been emptied as police investigate a suspicious package Monday evening, Oklahoma City police said.

Police received reports of a suspicious package in the downtown Oklahoma City park at 7:09 p.m., Sgt. Jennifer Morris said.

“There are no streets closed, the gardens are evacuated right now as a precaution,” Morris said at 9 p.m.

The incident occurred across the street from Chesapeake Energy Arena, where the Thunder will face the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals Tuesday.
