UPDATE: Three earthquakes recorded near Guthrie on Sunday night

A 3.8-magnitude earthquake near Guthrie was recorded about 10:55 p.m Sunday night, the U.S. Geological Survey said. A second quake, rated at 2.9-magnitude, registered at 11:31 p.m., and a third was recorded at 11:37 p.m. at 3.0-magnitude.

Three earthquakes were recorded Sunday night in Logan County.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake registered at 10:55 p.m. The initial report put the magnitude at 4.2, but it was downgraded about one-half hour later to 3.8.

It's epicenter was about six miles south-southwest of Guthrie, in an area where several smaller quakes have been registered since Friday evening.

The first quake was about four miles deep, which is shallow for an earthquake. Shallower quakes are easier to feel, earthquake experts have said.

The second quake, at 11:31 p.m. in the same area, registered at 2.9 magnitude, the survey reported.

The third was recorded at 11:37 p.m., and it registered at 3.0-magnitude.
