3 p.m. Tuesday: Pottawatomie County deputies arrested two men in connection with Monday's homicide.
Michael Preston Choate, 24, and James Isaac South, 35, were arrested Monday night.
Sheriff Mike Booth said officers are looking for a third suspect, Bradley Austin Keith.
Albert Rider suffered two gunshot wounds, once in the hand and once in the chest, and suffered head injuries, Booth said.
Everything stolen from Rider's home was recovered except two guns, Booth said.
7:30 p.m. Monday: A man found shot in Pottawatomie County died Monday afternoon, but not before he told law officers that somebody had broken into his house.
Law officers spent the day trying to determine who had shot Albert Rider, 53, and where it had happened, Pottawatomie County Sheriff Mike Booth said.
Pottawatomie County deputies received a call before noon that a van had crashed through a gate on New Hope Road near Fishmarket Road. Rider was found shot inside the van, and was flown to a hospital where he died, Booth said.
Rider told authorities that his Cleveland County home a few miles away had been broken into, and deputies searched the residence Monday afternoon, but investigators think the shooting happened in Pottawatomie County, Booth said. It is not clear whether he was pursuing the burglars when he was shot.
Neighbors working outside in the area where the van was found reported hearing two gunshots, Booth said.
No suspect description was released Monday night.
