A worker was killed when he was struck in the head by pipe at a southeast Oklahoma City landfill Tuesday.

The state medical examiner has identified the worker as Arlen Whittet, 56, spokeswoman Amy Elliott said. The cause and manner of death are pending, she said.

The heavy pipe was being unloaded from a tractor-trailer about 8:30 a.m. at 7001 S Bryant Ave. when the load shifted and Whittet was struck, police master Sgt. Gary Knight said.
