Urban Ag Coalition will host farm and garden tour in Oklahoma City

The Oklahoma City Urban Ag Coalition will explore 14 sites with such features as rainwater barrels, raised beds, fruit trees and chickens. The tour, set for Saturday, is self-guided.

The Oklahoma City Urban Ag Coalition will hold its inaugural Urban Farm and Garden Tour from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The tour will explore 14 sites with such features as rainwater barrels, raised beds, fruit trees and chickens. The tour is self-guided. A brochure included with the ticket provides addresses, descriptions and a map to the 14 sites.

Sites range in size from home gardens to city farms and are distributed throughout the northwest, downtown, northeast and south sides of Oklahoma City.

Sites include: Common Wealth Urban Farms, Helm Farm Victory Gardens, OCU Community Garden, 27th Street Permaculture Edible Landscape, Whiskey Cake Kitchen and Bar, Guilford Gardens, Urban Neighbors, Myriad Botanical Gardens, National Women in Agriculture Association Youth Garden, Metro Tech Green Garden, Urban Harvest at the Regional Food Bank, Del City Church of Christ garden and Roosevelt Middle School with OKC Harvest.

Tickets are $5 and can be bought with cash or check at select tour sites on the day of the tour. Advance tickets can be purchased at Whiskey Cake, 1845 Northwest Expressway. For more information, go to www.urbanagokc.org.
