USD women prep for 1st game in NCAA Tournament

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — The University of South Dakota women's basketball team is gearing up for its first-round game in the NCAA Tournament, while the South Dakota State University women have advanced in the National Invitation Tournament.

USD takes on Stanford Saturday night in the Stanford Regional at Ames, Iowa. The Coyotes are the No. 15 seed and the Cardinal the No. 2 seed in the region. The winner takes on either Iowa State or Florida State on Monday.

SDSU didn't make it to the Big Dance, but got an invite to the NIT. The Jackbrabbits defeated Butler 78-61 in the first round on Thursday. They'll play Creighton in the second round on Sunday.
