VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — University of South Dakota standout linebacker Tyler Starr has accepted an invitation to play in the 89th East-West Shrine Game.

The game Jan. 18 in St. Petersburg, Fla., will feature some of college football's best players. All 32 NFL teams will have general managers, coaches or scouts there during game week.

The longest-running college all-star game also benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Starr is from Little Rock, Iowa. He was the defensive player of the year last season in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. He holds the USD career records for sacks with 27 and forced fumbles with 13.
