Some stores still offer double-coupon days periodically. If you look through the grocery store advertisements and match your coupons to the sales, you can save even more. But coupons only work if you use them properly. It doesn't make sense to buy things you don't normally use just because you have a coupon.
Get your children into the act. Planning your coupon use together helps teach your children to be good shoppers. Sift through coupons in The Oklahoman on Sunday and clip only those you likely will use.
You can get your children to motivate you by offering them incentives. When you go to the store, offer them a special purchase, such as their favorite candy bar in exchange for helping you organize and use your coupons. Children love to feel needed and can really help keep you on track while shopping.

•Double-coupon offers are great, but in some areas, the only store that doubles coupons is the most expensive store in town. Keep a list of the regular prices of your most-used items to help determine whether doubling that coupon at the expensive store will save money.
•When items are on a "buy two for the price of one” sale, such as two boxes of cereal for $4, it usually is not necessary to buy two to get the sale price.
•You often can use both a manufacturer's coupon and a store coupon together on one item.
