HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) — Tree trimmers and line workers are making steady progress in restoring electricity to tens of thousands of homes in Maryland and Delaware.

Both Baltimore Gas and Electric and Potomac Edison say it will likely be Friday, at the earliest, before power is fully restored to their service areas.

A winter storm Tuesday night coated western Maryland and the northern counties Maryland and Delaware with up to a half-inch of ice.

At the peak of the outages Wednesday morning, about 158,000 customers were without power. That number is down to about 76,000 early Thursday.
