Oklahoma Vet recalls baseball, battle, bride
A skilled baseball and softball player from south Oklahoma City, a battle-hardened jungle fighter who still suffers from malaria and jungle rot, occasional rascal, twice a Bronze Star recipient, strong Christian, and devoted husband of more than 65 years. These are among the numerous portraits of Bob Freese, 95, the central figure of local author James Bement’s crisp biography "Baseball, Battle and a Bride: An Okie in World War ll” (Trafford Publishing, $15).
