A veteran firefighter was arrested, accused of lewd acts with a child, fire officials said Friday.

Oklahoma City police arrested Maj. Ervin Wyatt at his home Friday, Deputy Fire Chief Marc Woodard said.

Wyatt was booked into Oklahoma County jail and remained there as of 10:30 p.m. Friday, held on two complaints of indecent or lewd acts with a child under 16, a jail official said.

Woodard said police did not divulge what led them to arrest Wyatt. A police public information officer did not have details available late Friday.

Woodard said Wyatt worked as a quality assurance officer in the department's emergency medical services division.

His bail was set at $30,000, the jail official said. Wyatt is off work now but due back Tuesday.

“When he arrives back he's going to be placed on leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation,” Woodard said.

“We are cooperating with authorities and will assist in any way possible.”
