by William Crum Published: June 24, 2014

A big night for Willa Johnson in Oklahoma City.

The veteran county commissioner was cruising to victory Tuesday in the Democratic primary for her District 1 seat on the Oklahoma County Board of Commissioners.

Johnson, 75, likely will defend her seat against Republican Daren Ward in the November general election. Ward, 39, was taking an easy victory in the race for the GOP nomination.

With 22 of 91 precincts reporting, Johnson, of Oklahoma City, led Ronald Henry, 63, of Luther 3,064 to 852 in the Democratic primary.

Ward, of Oklahoma City, led Earl Davis, 62, of Choctaw 1,503 to 815 in the Republican primary.
