Enid-born singer-songwriter Brian Pounds, 24, won a spot on Oklahoma country music superstar Blake Shelton’s team on Monday’s blind audition episode of “The Voice.”

Pounds, who grew up in Houston and is now based in Austin, Texas, performed Darius Rucker’s countrified version of “Wagon Wheel,” and his smooth voice got both Shelton and CeeLo Green to turn their chairs. He eventually decided to go with Team Blake.

“I gotta keep country. I gotta go with Blake,” Pounds said on the show.

I got the chance to speak with Brian today by phone about his Oklahoma background and his blind audition. Look for my story Friday.

The blind auditions are over on Season 5 of “The Voice,” but the quest to identify this year’s winner continues at 7 tonight on NBC.
