Oklahoma City-based psychedelic rockers The Flaming Lips and Sean Lennon, the son of the late John Lennon, will perform a tribute to The Beatles tonight on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Letterman’s show airs at 10:35 p.m. weekdays on CBS.
Letterman and his musical guests have been paying tribute to the Fab Four all week long, with Sting, Lenny Kravitz and Broken Bells playing Beatles’ tunes. Ms. Lauryn Hill will be Friday’s musical guest.
The tributes all lead up to “The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to The Beatles” airing at 7 p.m. Sunday on CBS. The special will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liverpool lads’ historic appearance on the “Ed Sullivan Show.” Letterman interviewed Starr and Paul McCartney for the special.
The Flaming Lips and Sean Lennon will perform “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” tonight on “Letterman.”
Here are some of this week’s other musical guests paying homage to The Beatles, plus a fan video of the Lips playing “Lucy in the Sky” at a Colorado New Year’s Eve concert. Hopefully, these vids will get you excited for tonight’s TV performance:
