CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Christopher McComas has no coaching experience. He's just played a ton of college football video games.
That's the basis for the Marshall University web developer's tongue-in-cheek application for the vacant head coaching position at Championship Subdivision school North Dakota.
McComas' all-or-nothing offensive approach can be summed up by the phrase: "Chuck the pigskin."
McComas says he and his gaming buddies would always joke about how their play-calling skills were better than some coaches on the field. Recently he took that to the next step.
After seeing a random tweet about North Dakota looking for a new coach, McComas put a PowerPoint presentation together and sent in an application.
North Dakota football spokesman Ryan Powell confirmed Friday that McComas is among the 72 applicants for the job.
