Season 6 of the hit reality TV show “The Voice” premieres at 7 p.m. today and Tuesday on NBC, with Season 4 coaches Shakira, Usher, Adam Levine and Oklahoma country music superstar Blake Shelton back in the big red swivel chairs.
And we already know Shelton will be trying to recruit at least one pair of fellow Oklahomans to Team Blake: Tulsans Madi Metcalf and Alaska Rayne Holloway have been featured post-blind audition in a promotional video for the show.
In the promo video, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine notes that Shelton, who has three wins to Levine’s two on the series, is always “pulling the ‘by the way, where are you from’ card.”
When Shelton asks the two young women that question, they immediately exclaim “Tulsa, Oklahoma!,” prompting Levine to curse and Shelton to rub his hands together in anticipation.
If you’ll recall, Shelton had quite a bit of success in Season 4 with an Oklahoma duo: Muskogee’s Swon Brothers finished in third place on the show last year, and the pair is currently working on its debut album on Arista Nashville and recently performing at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, on the “Today” show.
