VIDEO: Watch Oklahoma State athletes and coaches take on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

by Kyle Fredrickson Published: August 20, 2014

STILLWATER — This week has been among the hottest of the summer in central Oklahoma. Good timing.

As the sports world has embraced the viral phenomenon that is the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, it’ s produced both comedy gold and awareness for a devastating disease.

It’s also helped raise more than $22 million.

And now, a number of Oklahoma State athletes and coaches have signed up. Here are some of the best videos of those ice baths. Enjoy.

Mike Gundy and Burns Hargis

The Oklahoma State football coach and the university president were challenged by Gov. Mary Fallin. Fast forward to 1:50 to watch two students alongside cornerback Kevin Peterson and quarterback JW Walsh make the dump in slow motion.

Travis Ford

Just when coach Ford thought it was over (00:40), it wasn’t (00:52). He got a double-dose to some pretty great commentary from the Cowboys behind him. Center Michael Cobbins: “It’s game time! Hey now!  …  How you doin’ buddy?!”

Tyreek Hill

Before the Cowboys’ speedster takes off running and screams, he challenges a few teammates. Also, “BALL OUT!”

Ryan Simmons

Ryan Simmons gives us our first self-shower. Impressive. Problem is, that bowl could use a few more ice cubes…

Le’Bryan Nash

10 points for creativity here. Nash enlists the help of what looks like JUCO-transfer center Anthony Allen for a two-story water drop. That’s after Nash says his mom is up next.

John Perrin

The returning Big 12 regular-season baseball champions also joined the viral craze. Here’s RHP John Perrin getting dumped on.

Marcus Smart

The Cowboys’ former point guard lets out a nice scream here with his Celtics teammate, rookie Tim Frazier. Smart also calls out a former Cowboy who has since left the team: forward Kamari Murphy.

Tracy Moore

The former Cowboy wideout only assists in this challenge, but it’s still classic.
