Vince Gill to receive star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Vince Gill started making music in his native Oklahoma and built a Country Music Hall of Fame career in Nashville, Tenn., but in between, he made his way in another musical hotbed: Los Angeles.

In 1976, Gill moved to Southern California at the tender age of 19 to join a band called Sundance. After hearing the teenager at a festival, Guthrie master fiddler Byron Berline, who was living in the San Fernando Valley at the time, personally tracked down Gill to invite him to join his bluegrass outfit.
He was only in Sundance a few years, but it turns out that L.A. hasn't forgotten Gill, 55, who went on to establish a successful solo career, sell more than 26 million albums and win 20 Grammy Awards.
Thursday, the singer/songwriter/musician will get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“They've deemed me worthy of a star on Hollywood Boulevard. It's really cool,” said Gill, who still sounded a bit surprised in a phone interview earlier this week from his home in Nashville.
Gill's star ceremony will take place at 1:30 p.m. Oklahoma time. The event will be streamed live at www.WalkofFame.com.
