A down economy coupled with an emerging reuse-recycle culture has led to renewed interest in all things vintage. Reminders of gentler times serve both as comfort and conservation when families gather for the holidays.

This holiday season, it’s all about being “vintage.” Vintage ornaments. Vintage décor. And a dressed-up holiday table is a natural for vintage china.

For Sharlene Branham of Oklahoma City, vintage china is a passion.

Branham has been a serious collector of fine china, both new and antique, for 30 years. She says she revels in creating a table setting that reflects the warmth and affection that surround her gatherings.

“I put out Thanksgiving china at Thanksgiving and Christmas china for Christmas. The rest of the time I just use different patterns,” she said. “My mother gave me my first two sets and I’ve been collecting ever since.

Branham, who confesses she’s not sure how many sets of china she has, says her Gold Chantilly by Royal Worcester may be her favorite.

“I started collecting it in 1960. Other than what my mother gave me, it’s probably my oldest,” she said.

Her philosophy about collecting? “I don’t really buy anything that I don’t just love.
