Volunteers stuff backpacks for central Oklahoma students

Sunbeam Family Services Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Program volunteers stuffed 435 backpacks with school supplies for Oklahoma City-area students.

Volunteers from law enforcement agencies and nonprofit organizations stuffed backpacks with school supplies for the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren backpack giveaway.

Enough backpacks were stuffed on Monday to prepare 435 students across central Oklahoma for the upcoming school year, program spokeswoman Courtney Hyder said.

Volunteers gathered for the event at Sunbeam Family Services, 616 NW 21.

They will distribute the backpacks to children and their grandparents on Thursday.
