Oklahomans' vote includes school issues

Voters across the state will be deciding on candidates for local offices as well as various city, county and school issues Tuesday. In Tulsa, voters will be facing a large slate of Republican and Democratic candidates for mayor and city council in primary elections for those offices. Marshall County voters will be choosing a new District 3 county commissioner. In El Reno, voters will be asked to decide on two bond issues worth a total of $1.3 million for school repairs and three buses. Luther School District voters will decide the fate of $2 million of proposed improvements to athletic facilities. Other school bond elections will be in Arapaho, Wilson and Hennessey. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

CUSTER COUNTY
Arapaho Public Schools

Proposition 1: $5.6 million for the construction of four multipurpose classrooms/safe rooms, a new gymnasium and covered walkways and awnings.

KINGFISHER COUNTY
Hennessey Public Schools

Proposition: $2.9 million for cafeteria renovation and classroom additions.

LOGAN COUNTY
Guthrie

Proposition 1: Would allow the city of Guthrie to use $3.9 million of the $5.5 million city waterline fund to pay off bonds from 2001 and 2002.

OKLAHOMA COUNTY
Nichols Hills

Proposition 1: Changes the beginning of the term of office for city council members to the first regularly scheduled May council meeting.

Proposition 2: Eliminates the requirement of reading ordinance changes aloud at city council meetings.

Proposition 3: Adds mechanical work to the list of work regulated by the city and eliminates the regulation of milk and milk products.

Proposition 4: Eliminates the requirement that the city manager be a resident of Nichols Hills.

Proposition 5: Allows the city council to set the minimum contract amount for competitive bidding and adjust the amount in the future. Proposition 6: Increases the required bond amount from $30,000 to $250,000 for the city treasurer, clerk and manager.

Luther Public Schools

Proposition: $2 million to build a football field, track, concession stands and restrooms.

MARSHALL COUNTY
District 3 county commissioner, unexpired term: Rick Bland, Republican, and Chris Duroy, Democrat.

Countywide proposition 1: Increases a monthly tax on each telephone line to 15 percent to upgrade the 911 system.

Countywide proposition 2: Establishes a fee of 50 cents per month for each cell phone customer to upgrade the 911 system.

Council member, Ward 2, Republicans: Barton Ralph Rhoades and Rick Dalton Westcott.

Council member, Ward 4, Republicans: Rocky R. Frisco and Jason Eric Gomez.

Council member, Ward 4, Democrats: Maria Veliz Barnes and Elizabeth Anne Wright.

Council member, Ward 5, Republicans: William Edward Martinson Jr. and Christopher Eric Trail.

Council member, Ward 6, Republicans: Tadd Arthur Weese and James S. Mautino.

Council member, Ward 6, Democrats: Mario Bobbie Choice and Dennis Kurt Troyer.
