Oklahoma voters show gusto for races

A voter showed up at 4:30 a.m. for an 8 a.m. start to the first of three days of in-person absentee voting at the Oklahoma County Election Board office, 4201 Lincoln Blvd.
Young arrived at 7:30 a.m. By the time he exited the building around 9 a.m., proudly displaying his "I Voted” sticker, the line was out the door and around the corner.
It stretched across the front of the election board and Langston University-Oklahoma City, and then out to the parking lot, where it began to snake back and forth. At one point, cars were backed up in the right-hand southbound lane of Lincoln Boulevard almost to Interstate 44.
Young was beaming.
"The apathy is gone,” the minister said. "I think you see people who are responding to this very important, difficult moment in the life of our country. You can’t hardly leave here without saying this is a great country.
"I think we’ve got something moving here that is larger than this election. I think it will carry forth in the years to come that you’re going to see people involved and active and making a difference in our community.
