SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources is encouraging visitors to the state park system with a promotion in January.

The "WV50" promotion offers room rates of $50 for standard forest and mountain view rooms in January, excluding Jan. 17 and 18.

Officials say the promotional rate is available at seven of West Virginia's vacation state parks: Cacapon Resort, Chief Logan Lodge, Hawks Nest, North Bend, Pipestem Resort, Twin Falls Resort and Tygart Lake state parks.

Reservations can be made online using the WV50 reference or by calling the participating parks in advance.

Visitors also are being encouraged to visit West Virginia parks during the winter months.
