WAGONER — Authorities in Wagoner County reached out to the public Monday in search of tips in the unsolved case of a Broken Arrow teenager found dead in a lake nearly eight years ago.

Wagoner County District Attorney Brian Kuester announced Monday that a tip line has been set up to help investigators gather more details about the death of 18-year-old Jarret Clark, who was found dead May 18, 2006, in Fort Gibson Lake. Clark disappeared while camping with friends and his family maintains that he was killed.

No one has been arrested or charged in Clark's death, and two grand juries that considered that case declined to issue any indictments. An autopsy listed Clark's probable cause of death as drowning.

"I think that any time someone has died in a way that is suspicious I don't think we can just lay that to rest. I think we owe it to the community, I think we owe it to the family and I think it's what we're here to do," Kuester said.

Witnesses told police that Clark was intoxicated, aggressive and belligerent before wandering off toward the shore the night of his disappearance. But his stepfather, Eric Slater, said the family has never believed that account. The autopsy listed Clark's blood alcohol content as 0.04, well below the legal limit.

"The family has been hurting since Day 1," Slater said Monday. "The hurt's not going to go away. We just want the truth."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Wagoner County District Attorney's tip line at 918-845-7847.
