WAGONER - A Wagoner County jailer who is accused of "carelessly" enabling two inmates to escape in July was arrested Friday, authorities said.

William "Billy" Hagen Jr., 21, was arrested about 1 p.m. at his home. Hagen, charged Friday with being an "officer allowing escape," was booked into the Wagoner County Jail - the jail where he worked - with bail set at $25,000, authorities said.

The count stems from the July 29 escape of Larry Cotton and Mickey Staggs, whom Sheriff Bob Colbert said lured Hagen to their cell about 9 p.m. that night, took his keys, locked him in the cell and escaped.
