While four teammates took turns parading with parents to the table of honor to sign letters of intent, kicker Bryce Easley stood in the pack of students and friends with a big smile on his face.

Maybe because he knows what’s coming in September.

No ceremony. No scholarship. But there’s a good chance Easley will take the field before any of the blue-chip prospects who dominate the football waves this time of year.

And that field could be Jerry’s World in Arlington, Texas.

Easley will join the Sooners as a walk-on, but he’s been promised a scholarship for 2010 and the chance to win the kicking job in 2009.

Rules bar the OU coaches from talking about a recruit they haven’t signed, but make no mistake, Easley excites the Sooners after a season in which the kicking game was a thorn in Bob Stoops’ flesh.
