Want to leave your shoes on at the Oklahoma City airport?

Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City is the latest to receive TSA Pre-Check, an expedited security lane that allows travelers to leave on jackets, shoes and belts, and avoid removing laptops and liquids from carry-ons.

Certain airport passengers will be able to pass through security wearing jackets and shoes now that the Transportation Security Administration's new pre-check program is up and running at Will Rogers World Airport.

TSA Pre-Check, an expedited screening process, is available at 100 major commercial airports nationwide. Officials announced the program on Friday at Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City.

Those selected for Pre-Check use a specified lane at the airport security checkpoint, marked in red, and are able to keep on their shoes, jackets and belts, and avoid removing laptops and liquids and gels from carry-on luggage.

“Our frequent fliers love it,” said Kim Wagner, TSA customer service manager for Oklahoma City and Lawton.

TSA has been using Pre-Check with some Oklahoma City travelers since Oct. 10.

There are several ways a traveler can be selected for Pre-Check, Wagner explained. Participating airlines' frequent fliers and U.S. citizens who are members of the Customs and Border Protection's Trusted Traveler program qualify. Other passengers will be randomly chosen and will see a pre-check notification on their boarding pass.

None of the methods guarantees a traveler will be able to pre-check, allowing TSA to retain some unpredictability in security screening.

“It allows us to focus our attention where it's more needed,” Wagner said. “We've heard from our passengers. We've been listening. They don't like the cookie-cutter approach.”

The program also became available at Tulsa International Airport this week. TSA's goal is to have one quarter of U.S. passengers prescreened by the end of the year and half by the end of 2014.
