Wapanucka, OK, man dies in traffic accident

Billy McCarver, 76, of Wapanucka, died in a traffic accident about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday in Caddo County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

— A man was killed Wednesday morning in a head-on collision in Caddo County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Billy McCarver, 76, of Wapanucka, was driving a car about 10:40 a.m. westbound on State Highway 22 about half a mile west of Cat City Road near Caddo, troopers said.

Cody Elderige, 24, of Caddo, was driving his pickup eastbound on State Highway 22 and went left of center and hit McCarver's car head-on, troopers said.

McCarver was pinned in his car and was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. Elderige was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital.

Both men were wearing seat belts, troopers said.
