Ward 8 Councilman Pat Ryan will not seek re-election

by William Crum Published: January 7, 2014

Ward 8 Councilman Pat Ryan plans to leave the Oklahoma City Council when his term ends in 2015.

Ryan said he was announcing his plans well in advance to give potential successors a chance to learn the issues facing the ward and city, and to give residents a chance to get to know the candidates.

Ryan, 75, is a former OG&E executive. He was elected to the council in 2005, and re-elected in 2007 and 2011. He will have served 10 years when his term ends next year.

Ward 8 is in northwest Oklahoma City, west of Western Avenue and north of Hefner Road.

Ryan retired from OG&E as vice chairman in 1997. He has been attending Oklahoma City University while serving on the council, and expects to graduate soon with a master’s degree in energy management.
