Warnings, watches issued for Oklahoma counties

A flood warning is effective until late today for Polecat Creek near Sapulpa in Creek County.
At 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, the river's level was about 4 1/4 feet above flood stage.
Widespread flooding will affect pastures and oil fields between Sapulpa and the Tulsa County line, according to the weather service. Minor flooding may affect barns and outbuildings.
A flash flood watch is effective until 1 p.m. today for McCurtain County.
A flash flood watch will be effective from 1 p.m. today to Thursday night for Adair, Cherokee, Choctaw, Craig, Creek, Delaware, Haskell, Latimer, Le Flore, Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, Ottawa, Pawnee, Pittsburg, Pushmataha, Rogers, Sequoyah, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington counties.
A flash flood watch means conditions are favorable for flash flooding. A flash flood is usually the result of heavy or excessive amounts of rainfall within a short period of time, usually less than 6 hours, causing water to rise and fall quite rapidly.
A flood watch will be effective from 1 p.m. today to Thursday night for Atoka, Canadian, Carter, Cleveland, Coal, Comanche, Cotton, Garfield, Garvin, Grady, Hughes, Jefferson, Johnston, Kay, Kingfisher, Lincoln, Logan, Love, Marshall, McClain, Murray, Noble, Oklahoma, Payne, Pontotoc, Pottawatomie, Seminole, Stephens and Tillman counties.
A flood watch means conditions are favorable for flooding. Rivers and creeks may overflow and heavy runoff or drainage of water into low-lying areas may happen.
A severe thunderstorm watch is effective until 4 p.m. today for Beckham, Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Custer, Grady, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Jefferson, Kiowa, Roger Mills, Stephens, Tillman and Washita counties.
A severe thunderstorm watch means conditions are favorable for thunderstorms capable of producing penny-sized hail, wind speeds of at least 58 mph and tornadoes.
